What it does

A map that answers one specific question.

"Where do I fish today?" means crossing tides, wind, swell, species and technique. PescaRadar does that crossing.

01

Coastal and inland map

Fishing spots across Spain and Portugal on a single map, each with its own card depending on whether it is coastal or inland.

02

Sea conditions

Swell, wind, sea state, tides and coefficient, with the best windows of the day.

03

Species atlas

A card per species with habitat, season and techniques recommended by area.

04

PescaRadar Score

A score that compares options by combining several weighted factors, among them technique, sea state and historical pattern.

05

Regulation linked

References to current regulation with links to the official sources.

06

Catches and community

Publishing catches, private favourites, alerts and a progress system.

How it's built

Built for a phone on a beach.

A data backend feeding a map that has to stay fast on mobile, outdoors, with poor coverage.

Backend

FastAPI + PostgreSQL

An API for spots, species and conditions, with the database as the single source of truth.

Frontend

Leaflet map

Point clustering by area so the map stays usable with hundreds of spots.

Delivery

Installable PWA

Works in the browser and installs to the home screen without any app store.

FAQ

Questions about PescaRadar.

Is PescaRadar free?
Yes. It is published as a free product: every feature is unlocked and there is no paid tier.
Do I need an account?
Not to explore the map. An account is needed for personal features such as favourites, catches or alerts.
Is it a mobile app?
It is a PWA: it opens in the browser and can be installed on the home screen on Android and iPhone, without going through an app store.
Which areas does it cover?
Spain and Portugal, both coastal and inland fishing spots.
Does it guarantee catches?
No, and it does not try to. It is an information and comparison tool: it organises data so you can decide where and when to go.

PescaRadar started as an idea of my own and is now in production. If you want to build yours, let's talk.
